Techniques I’ve learned achievement. We were allowed just to sit down at our desk and read out our findings to the class but I decided to make a PowerPoint and stand up in front of the class. There was a couple technical errors at the start so I used that to through in a joke and lighten the mood and from there, I was almost completely fluent. I tried to focus on one person and deliver to him instead of focusing on the class and when I knew a stutter was coming, I’d point to the word on the screen and shout ‘THAT ONE!’ and everyone found it funny (it was intended to be funny). I only stuttered on one word and before I tried to say it, I said ‘aww fuck sake, here we go’. I’ve learned that humour can be a really good tool to use. Instead of getting panicked by your stutter, turn it into a joke and get people to laugh with you. It works for me to the point where presentations don’t seem daunting anymore. I’ll also note that when we got asked who wanted to go first, I raised my hand as quickly as possible. Pretending to be confident can make you confident. Don’t hesitate with stuff like this. Just do it
