Methods for mitigating stuttering: substitutions? Hey guys- I had a stutter as a kid and it came back in college in 2005. It was gone for about 15 or so years. I live with it now, I’m confident and if i stutter sometimes then so be it. What are some things that help you? If I have a presentation at work I absolutely have to prepare with a talk track, but my biggest thing is substitutions. For example if I am talking to someone and I know I’m gonna stutter on a word, I quickly scan my brain for a substitution. For example if I’m talking basketball with a friend and want to say “Anthony Edwards is gonna get first team all nba this year” and know I’m going to stutter on “first” I’ll quickly change the sentence to “Anthony Edwards is gonna get number 1 team all nba” anyone else use this method?
