My speech therapist had a nice way of putting it : your speech flow depends on a two factors: 1. Your speech capability(Stutter to non stutter) 2. Demands from environment(Stress, social anxiety, having a big speech etc) Increase 1 and decrease 2 : Better flow of speech Decrease 1 and increase 2 : Your stutter becomes worse Unfortunately there is little we can do about num.1. There are some techniques, maybe you grow out of it but you probably just have to suck it up. What we can change is num.2 : Lower our social anxiety and other stress factors, become confident. With social skills and confidence your fluency will increase, and speaking to your boss will be like speaking to your friends, pretty much fluent. It's important to challenge yourself with your speech socially, take small steps, ask a question even when you feel a block coming, learn to not be bothered. Try to keep eye contact and try to resist weird stutter spasms. Small steps. Statistics can say a lot about what's possible, but our brains are always rewirable, you can always be better.
