Block stutter that only happens when asked to introduce myself Hey all, Recently i’ve developed a form of stutter that, upon research, I discovered is a “block” stutter. Prior to this, as a kid (8-10) I had a prolongation stutter which went away on its own. I’m now 18 and recently found out that when I know i’m going to be asked a question, I can’t force the start of the sentence out, and by the time it comes out, i’m completely out of breath and people look at me like an idiot. This has happened about 4 times now and gets more and more embarrassing as i get the classic, “forgot your name there, did you?” I would love for people who have dealt with this type of stutter to share techniques on what they did to prevent “blocks” as my job is dependent on my communication.
