Hey there! I'm also a first year college student and I can relate so much to your post! My stutter comes in mild blocks, but it does go crazy on certain occasions when I'm supposed to speak aloud in front of others... Though I have yet to find a solution, I never let stuttering prevent me from interacting with my peers and professors. One thing I noticed is that impulsive speech and spontaneity may help you overcome the fear of starting a conversation, and thus, make you forget you even have a stutter. With all that being said, never let stuttering get the better of you. Even if you were to stutter, don't give a damn about what others think of you, cuz frankly, no one's perfect!
