I began stuttering in 3rd grade. It was severe. I went to speech therapy twice per week 3rd, 4, 5, 6, 7th grade. Since then I have had it largely under control. All through high school I went out of my way to find opportunities to speak on front of people. I got better and better. In college, I was a DJ on the campus radio station. I still stutter if I get passionate or excited about what I'm talking about. I have to catch myself and slow down and the stuttering stops. I'm 65. I still classify myself as a stutterer.
