Is stuttering natural or really caused by traumatic events? (also hi! i'm new here) sorry for long post, i think this is the first time i am being honest and speaking about what my speech impediment has affected me i went to a psychiatric appointment for a certain issue (not my speech) but the doctor noticed my stuttering and started asking me questions about it, despite that not being on the topic of the reason i went there, aside from the fact another speech impediment i have is speaking with a quiet voice because it dont like it due to gender dysphoria primarily they were questions about if i had any traumatic event during childhood, such as being bullied (i wasnt), being abused (i wasnt) or seeing something really traumatic (as far as i remember, i wasnt), also asked me if there were any other person with stuttering in my family, and even if my family is quite big i think im the only one who stutters and tbh it did worried me in the past but as time went on and after 3 speech therapists and a tongue surgery (what was my mom thinking?) i just started living with it, most people who are close to me seem to dont care or at least they treat me normally (and im glad!) but i did leave me thinking if my stuttering is just part of me or if something i would need to worry about, i do get moments where it's annoying but it's mostly a "i hope the other person isnt getting mad at me"
