I would like to piggyback this because I was also in the military. I did a stint in the Navy as a helmsman on an Aircraft Carrier. I also just retired from the government at 50. I have a moderate to heavy stutter. Early in life, I told myself that I wouldn't let it hold me back, but I had to manage my expectations. Obviously, there are professions I can't do, like an auctioneer, broadcasting, or be the guy that does the countdown for the space shuttle liftoff. Us stutterers are tough bastards by definition. We're smart, too. Go out into the world and never be afraid to claim your rightful place.
