Thankyou for this incredibly helpful insight! I had a niggling feeling that taking a beat and talking calmly with plenty of space and time for my partner to express himself is required. We’re a long distance couple so have very few face to face interactions so the road to learn what’s comfortable for him is long. We have very few conflicts too, despite the odds against us.
