I had a very prominent and difficult genetic stutter all through childhood well into my 20/30s. What has helped me immensely is mindfulness and concentrating on the speech therapy practices I learned through therapy outside of therapy sessions. I do still stutter but when I feel my block happening, over time I have naturally conditioned myself to start using the breathe and muscle control I learned during therapy to get past the block. I’m not a therapist but I am happy to give some small tips that have helped me get by. It take time, patience, and practice. We all can do it. For some, they suffer more, for others not so much. But we all can overcome it if we give ourselves some grace and patience. I think we all can. It just takes time and practice.
