Researcher (PhD in chemical Engineering) but switched after I reached a dead end in science since no university wanted to hire me as a stuttering professor - and sitting in second row while other, not better people get ahead of me wasn’t what I wanted. Had my own consulting company and wore different hats from Sales Lead to Developer to Customer Service. Now I’m manager in one of the big four consulting companies and lead teams and develop products. My stutter is severe in many situations. From my experience you will always meet great people who are more interested in what you can bring to the table than how you can speak about it. An environment where you are only judge on how well/fluent you speak is driven by politics and usually a toxic environment. When you want something, you will get it, and you will find a way, you „just have to get started“. No matter if you are stuttering or not, you will meet people who are mean and try to put you down. But that has usually nothing to do with your stuttering, it only makes it easier for people to get to you and you can identify which people to trust.
