Yeah, I pretty much have a weak balance between isolation and a social life, but I think it's a normal reaction to avoid an uncomfortable situation. How is your fluency around people you talk to regularly? The people I'm most comfortable with know that I stutter, so maybe start with things that help the interaction feel less forced? I know easier said than done with someone you're meeting for the first time. I'm at my best when I'm feeling particularly confident, like post workout or in my element at work, ect.. Maybe try to working a few confidence building routines into key parts of your day will help smooth out the wrinkles in your speech. It's my experience that we will always be working at it though. Just tonight I blocked on the word 'condition' while speaking with my gf of 10 years.. Hang in there bud
