In my case I was simply born neurodivergent, the gamut of OCD, ASD, ADHD, and Tourette's (could also be a factor). Frankly my childhood was fine and fairly happy, though obviously those things brought challenges, and while my adult life has been hard it has not really been traumatic in any way. If I could date the stutttering, it began in a period of relative stability in my life (though not great comfort), when I was actually becoming more emotionally mature. But I have been having issues with reading in my mind since my teens, and needing to read aloud more frequently, which I think is related to the OCD and could have been the beginning of this specific compulsion, even if it was over a decade prior. In any case, I agree with you, this is a good thing to talk to my therapist about. It hurts nothing to try and unpack things with a professional.
