Being open about it is HUGE. I was ashamed of my stutter for the longest time and preferred to pretend it didn't exist. Once I acknowledged it and accepted it as a part of my identity, stuttering confidently became so much easier. I found that once I was confident in my stutter, my fluency improved a bit and, when I did stutter, it didn't really bother me.
