Have an AAC app on your phone to fall back on. AAC means Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It may sound complicated but it's just a term for many established ways of communication tools designed for people who can't speak temporarily or permanently. If you look it up, it does look like users are mostly non-verbal autistic children and stroke patients so you might say "wait, is this really for me? I am verbal and I know what to say. I just need m............................. more time to finish." Let's say you have really long blocks sometimes, maybe a block that feels like a minute. Then you can get an AAC app with text to speech feature where you can type the rest of your sentence and make it speak for you. Or you can make it say a saved phrase like "hold on. there's my sudden pause. that's my speech impediment. wait a few seconds please." while you get through the block. Even in good days where your blocks don't last that long, just knowing that you have an AAC app with you will make you feel at ease because you can fall back on it anytime.
