Popularity is irrelevant. I was too caught up with my stutter to sometimes enjoy time with friends and family. Other times it was fine and firing on all cylinders socially. Ebbed and flowed. My regret is in caring about the wrong things in high school. College, career, family life is way better. Still stutter off and on every day.
