Highly urge you to reconsider. This is as far of an avoidance mechanism as possible! Changing your name is the same as word replacing, only you are literally losing your identity. The reason you stutter on your name now is because it's something you can't replace and yes experimenting with a new name is a trick that works for now, but once you change it - it will become the new word you can't replace and will start blocking on that. You need to start practising saying your name, start with answering phone with name, call up hotels and introduce yourself, etc. One of the biggest things we instruct during McGuire is overkilling feared words, sounds and situations - you just need to learn techniques to be able to manage your stutter and then work with these tools to overkill feared words - starting with your real name. These techniques don't have to be McGuire ones, can be other SLP techniques, etc - but do not start losing your identity because you have trouble saying your name.
