Are you going to report this behavior every time it happens? Your life will become a living hell working with people who don't trust you after "snitching." There's a time and place for bringing in HR. OP just started working there, and I don't think this was the time to do that. If it turns out this dude is an ass to OP and others on the regular then think about something more drastic.
