This entire subreddit, including myself, can relate. Your stutter never defines who you are, and I'm sorry you have rats in your life that don't care how you're feeling. Make that phone call again, and try again. Instead of "hi" this time, try "greetings", or "hello" (if having two syllables helps, it does for me sometimes). "you don't stutter you just tell yourself that" anyone who says and believes that should be punched in the throat.
