Opposite experience as you. I luckily formed strong friendships with multiple groups in high school. This meant I was active in clubs, sports, and generally outgoing. While I clearly stuttered, I wasn’t an easy target and rarely picked on. All this in a large (2000 students) urban public school. Primary was more common to be teased, but mostly kids were more immature.
