Don't let a stutter define who you are. Giving it total control on how you approach situations/people isn't going to make it go away. For the talking to girls problem, it doesn't matter how "embarrassing" the interaction was because even if you stutter through every word the girl (most of the time) is definitely gonna notice you're trying, and thats all that matters. I believe that your future special someone deserves you sticking your neck out a bit to find her, wouldn't you agree? As for your broad social interactions, if you think something is funny just say it out loud (if it isn't too dark), you'll get some laughs or silence but its about testing the waters with people. As for your family, family doesn't say things like that. The main lesson I've learned is to not give a damn about what other people perceive you as. Its basic advice but its the most given for a reason.
