The Chappelle clip "turn any room into a courtroom" i'm dead lmao. I remember when he first debuted when I was a kid he instantly became a comedy giant, and well deserved. My fav Chappelle character if I had to pick would be the crackhead with the coke encrusted dusty white lips haha. Your customer service escapades sound amusing, the sports announcer reference lol. I've heard a few people who do that and I was thinking "they sound like a radio dj or sports show host" I never considered it can be used as a fluency strategy. That is a good tip for me, if all else fails maybe I'll craft a court reporter special voice. So you have a phone job and can talk irl with customers? That's advanced skills, you should feel proud. I'm not sure if it was because I was putting myself out there more often, "if you don't use it you lose it" you know the saying, but some years back I had customer service jobs and some call center jobs and was able to make it through. Interestingly I can also read a script usually almost completely fluent. It's unscripted that my issues happen. I work from home now with minimal professional interaction. Which has been low stress but easy to get in a funk over several years. I notice when I DO talk professionally the rare times my job requires it, I am less fluent and not speaking nearly as well as I did when I was putting myself out there having to talk a lot. Curious do you ever use an ear plug? When I completely close 1 ear I'm fluent, and somehow not even any blocks, I guess since blocks too are caused by the same auditory to speech discrepancy that's linked to a big part of stuttering causation. I've heard of the in-ear devices. I know the main one is very expensive. I've read on here some people saying keeping an ear bud in and using a voice relay app is almost the same thing. I wish that can be done with a device that looks like a hearing aid so it looks more professional But then I read that even using the devices if you use it all the time your brain will adapt and it will stop working.
