I think this is how many of us got it (either consciously or unconsciously). That's how parents can pass it on to their kids, or siblings to their younger siblings. As far as I know it's not inherited / genetic (even though certain personality types may be more exposed). I'm pretty sure that's how I got it myself as my sister stuttered. Thankfully I'm now at 26 very confident that I finally will beat it. But my tip to you would be to speak more often with the people you don't stutter talking to. You need to hear fluency from your own lips daily to beat it. Don't get involved talking to your neighbor if you get uncomfortable speaking. this may sound bit drastic, but I think it's important to put yourself first in this situation to stop developing speech anxieties. Good luck!
