From my previous post: Hang in there friend. I have medium stutter and sometimes it can get ugly. I have had job interviews where the interview was cut short. I have a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Manufacturing Engineering. What you may think as lacking in communication, make up in other areas. Go for the hard challenges that everyone stays away from. Learn something new every month/year. Get lots of certifications. I have ASQ CQE, CRE, CSSBB certifications and several Lean Black Belt certifications. I keep abreast of what’s going on in my field. I also do programming on the side. I am not just an Engineer who stutters, I am also an Engineer who can program, and who has expertise in lean, six sigma, TRIZ, and you name it. I always tried to overcompensate for my weakness. I have always treated everyone with kindness. The world is not cruel and yes there are some bad people. But generally, not too bad. Attitude is very important. I am on my fourth job now and has now become a manager. I have immigrated to a new country altogether. Sometimes I feel that stuttering actually gave me an edge because I felt that I have to be on my A+ game. Two final advices: 1. Fake it till you make it. Always raise hands for the most difficult and challenging projects. Soon they will see you as the go-to person for big projects. 2. Companies truly don’t care if you stutter. Everyone knows or has someone who stutters. They care about what you can do for them. Show them you are the best. Keep working on your resume. Keep your chin up. The world needs a strong YOU.
