When I was 36, my stutter was diagnosed as severe. The speech pathologist even commented that it was the worst she had witnessed personally. Despite this fact, I am completely fluent anytime I am alone, and speaking to myself. When I’m alone, and speaking to my cat or dog, I am near complete fluency, stuttering infrequently.
