Something I’d tell a client to do if this is stressing themselves out is to practice stuttering on purpose with someone you trust. Over explaining kinda kills the magic but stuttering on purpose can give you a ‘perfect’ introduction as a stutterer, making later, authentic, stutters not as big of a deal to you or the listener. I also like this because a secondary trait of my stutter is my eyes closing so being able to keep them open during my fake stutter let’s me “test” their reactions to see if they are good people or if they are judge mental. It can put you on the attack instead of the defense. Stuttering on purpose also helps erode the deep down self-stigma about stuttering. You may be tired of hearing this, but people don’t care that you stutter, we make it worse by being outwardly self conscious so let’s break down the self-shame Finally, Google some “fluency shaping” techniques and see if you can teach yourself one. It’s good to learn them all but barely knowing them won’t help, focus on one what works for you. These are tools we teach for you do be more fluent in shorter and controlled environments. Perfect for introductions
