I'm a woman with a stammer and .y boyfriend has always treated me as if I were not a stammerer. Sometimes he asks me 'are you having a bad day?' or 'did something happen?' when I'm really struggling. But I just have to remind him that while yes emotions can affect it, it really depends on the day. If something is wrong I will tell him, he doesn't have to pry it out of me :) I think the whole proud thing is a gender thing cos I wouldn't get offended if he said he was proud of me. I think he just wants to be the one who is proud of you, not the other way around. I also personally really quite loathe it when people finish my sentences for me so maybe work on that cos it really is a big thing in our community. And stammering is really it's own thing, it's very personal to each person so just try and accept it for what it is and respect how he views his speech.
