I worked in customer facing jobs for years in my teens and 20s. It helped my confidence and my speech, but the daily laughs from other people was humiliating. I no longer work in those types of jobs. I look at those times with mixed feelings - pride because I did those hard jobs despite my stutter, and relief that I no longer have to endure the daily, little humiliations. The anxiety and stress during those years were taxing! You’re brave and strong for putting yourself out there. It’s so much easier to stay inside and not try to communicate with others.
