It is okay! There have been times when I’ve had to tell him that I really needed him to talk through something with me at a time when I knew he’d rather not have to talk, and he always will, but usually if he’s having a night where he just wants to be quiet we find something to do where we don’t need to talk. Usually we do talk a lot, but if he has a day with a long meeting or something, I get it and it’s fine if we just watch a movie or something. I just know that I would hate to think that my husband was having to worry about how he talked when he was at home or with me. I want that to be when he can just relax and talk as much or as little as he wants. So if there’s some kind of miscommunication we’re having because of his stutter, I’d rather we just talk about it so I’d know what’s going on and know how to respond than have him feel like he needs to try to change how he’s speaking, bc I know that’s really hard and often not possible.
