For the most part, my experience with my stutter has been 1. I care about it far more than the people around me. 2. People will be as uncomfortable with it as I am. So, I talk "normally" around people, and people figure it out pretty quick (without the introduction). If someone tries to make a lame joke about "forgetting my name" or whatever, I just gently tell them that I stutter. One great benefit of patronizing the same place again and again is that word gets around and you don't have to repeat "the talk" every time.
