Well, I also stutter waaay more in my native language (Bulgarian) than in English. I think the reason is hidden in the subconscious anxiety we feel about what's *expected* from us. Our brain says: "Hey, that's your native language! No pressure but - you **must** know and speak it fluently, every time, everywhere! 🤨" While with a foreign language, our brain is more like: "Alright, sis/bro! This is **not** your mother tongue, so chill out! ⛱️ You are allowed to speak it in whatever intonation, pronunciation, and speed you'd like! You can even make silly mistakes once in a while. Cheers! 🍸 🍺"
