Different angle: Empathizing isn't an impossibility, and perspectivizing is a common conversational element. So actually, I think it can be genuine. We have to allow for the opportunity of others displaying their engagement with our plight. And of course, the more people who know more about stutter, the better. Perhaps connection is conducive to this.
