I think it's BS. I know quite a few people who stutter, including myself, and none of them have any symptoms of being on the spectrum, let alone a diagnosis of autism. It's probably possible that an autistic person might stutter due to their autism, but that doesn't mean every stutterer has autism as an underlying cause.
