I feel your pain! Growing up was rough for me. Kids were definitely cruel but a lot weren’t. Still to this day I have hard time making eye contact while speaking unless it’s a woman due to judgement. I’m mild now but when it comes my eyes drift away. After I was medically retired from the military I went back as a federal employee because they don’t give a shit about my stutter. I’ve learned to live with it though
