I feel he is way more than his stutter. He is kind, hilarious, thoughtful and a bit of a fool. When I think of him I don't automatically think 'stutter', I think a 'gentleman'. Therefore I don't think his cutter defines him (for me anyway) side note- I completely understand where you're coming from! I know it's a huge part of his life. I feel like I do an okay job when we're talking, I don't interrupt or finish his words. I'll just react like I'd normally would and sometimes I say " don't worry, no rush" but maybe I shouldn't? I don't know, I just want him to be comfortable. He told me he is, but when we're in public it's clear he's not. Poor lad. Thanks for your input!
