Kind of depends on who you want this girl to be. Some of us are defined by our stuttering. Others are not. I believe stuttering has an impact on all of us in one way or another. I hope no one here takes this as reductive. Just describing my journey. I know this isn't applicable to others here. Stuttering is insidious for many of us. It can start damaging your psyche at a very early age. It shakes your confidence. It reinforces introvert behavior. You hesitate to speak. Slow to trust. Fear of being laughed at or picked on. It can be very hurtful. As a youth... You hate the stutter. You hate that you stutter. You're angry about it. You're hurt. You wish you didn't stutter. You're angry. You don't like that you stutter. You don't like yourself because of your stutter. Problems we encounter? Missed opportunities. Hesitating to speak, to take action. Letting our stutter freeze us with inaction. Blaming ourselves for our stutter. Low self esteem. Believing that our stutter is responsible for everything wrong in our life. That everything would be sunshine and rainbows if not for the stutter. Hope that helps!
