Heya! I’m a senior in university with ADHD (diagnosed as a child) and a stutter as well. I didn’t have the luxury of finding ways to cope and diagnose it when I was younger, but you’re doing great things with these journals! In high school I never thought I would be able to bare university— the lectures, networking, presentations, social life. I was scared my first few weeks because I was conditioned to believe the stutter made me negatively different. I’d like to say first hand that it makes you unique in so many ways! I joined a fraternity, on path to graduating in the top few of my class and got offered a job from 4 different employers this week alone after painstaking interviews! It fascinates me to see how far I’ve come and hearing little updates and stories about stutters such as yourself puts a bit smile on my face. I always chalked up the stutter to being a side effect of ADHD, but as I got older the symptoms disappeared and the stutter stayed. This scared me at first, but now I’m living life as anyone else and using the stutter as a conversation piece more than anything. I hope one day to know the root cause, if not ADHD, but until then I’m going to keep pressing myself to be better than the competition. Politics aside, the debate was a train wreck. Each party had their share of blame (some more than others), but I was absolutely geeking out when Biden was telling Trump to stop talking and shutting him down. Joe Biden has had a struggle with stuttering himself and in a way I found the debate inspiring for that reason. Your life seems rich in experience and I commend you on your journey so far and wish you the best in your ventures! From one person with a stutter to another, keep doing great!
