IMO, I seriously think stuttering is a learned behaviour rather than genetics. Children imitate parents or important people in their lives to gain their approval. If a child sees his parent stutter, he would naturally try to imitate that. Stuttering is such an out-of-ordinary behaviour that it sticks out, especially for children. If they hear it, chances are they are going to imitate it.
