Bullied a lot in high school, get laughed at regularly by strangers when I have a hard time saying my name. But the worst time, was a couple years ago at a new job where I had to answer the phone. One day the guy on the other end of line was being lazy, and wanted me to read something off to him instead of looking it up himself on our database. So I tried my best but he kept interrupting me, belittling me, telling the other person he was with I couldn’t even read and how did I get this job because I am dumb as rocks, etc, etc. At this point I’m just completely blocked and trying not to let it get to me but it does, it absolutely does. My boss walks by sees me in distress and takes over the phone call while I ran outside to compose myself. I learned later that my boss gave him an earful- tore him a new one over the phone. I never heard from this particular person again the entire 5 years I worked there.
