I still have this fear and I'm 29. Back in high school and middle school, was much worse than it is now and I'd have to stomp my feet or rock my body in a rhythm to get words out in class, it was pretty severe. However, I somehow always had friends in elementary, middle and high school. I think it was because I always found a way to have fun during recess, which always involved playing or participating in some kind of sport (usually basketball or preferably soccer) with people in my class or people in a grade above mine. If you're a guy, I think the best way to make new friends is by doing something that you find fun, with other guys around you're age. Which is usually some kind of sport. Your stutter doesn't really matter in these situations, cause y'all are just focused on the game and having fun. Sure you're stutter can get in the way of calling for a pass or saying you're open (soccer) but you can still participate and find other ways to communicate.
