It astounds me how in 2021 there are companies that don’t offer non verbal options for customer services. Summary: I called customer service for a problem with a medical website for my appointment and they have no options for online customer service. Only phone calls which is ridiculous. LONG VERSION (if you want it): I recently made the choice to get my mental health checked. I made an appointment with my primary care physician to get a referral to a psychiatrist. I have been struggling with anxiety for years now, usually because of my stutter, and I figure I’d go see someone about my anxiety before I start my online speech therapy. I also wanted to see if I get diagnosed with anything else since focusing is a major issue for me. Anyway, I get the referral and the only way to make an appointment is through the phone (dumb). Like many stutterers, I hate talking on the phone. Especially me since I have severe blockage when talking on the phone which hurts my chest and leaves me out of breath most of the time. Once I do that, and it’s finally over, they give me an online account through a website. Only problem is, my username doesn’t work and the site keeps giving me errors. I put in a customer service online message for help and I put DO NOT CALL ME in the message. Well someone calls me lol. They say that they have to reset my account and that I have to provide them with my information. I struggle so hard to give my info out, to the point where I just lash out and ask “is there anyway I can email you my information?!” She says unfortunately they can’t and that it HAS to be over the phone. WHY? Why does it HAVE to be over the phone? Just reach me in a secure email, or chat with me literally ANYWHERE ELSE. There needs to be more options for customer service. It’s unbelievable that in 2021 there are still really stupid instances where it is a necessity to be a non-stutterer, and it’s just not fair.
