Hacks I use to cope with stuttering.

Hacks I use to cope with stuttering. Sup, guys, yesterday in my introduction, I promised that I would share some of the hacks I use to make living with my stutter a little easier. Here they are. 1. MOUTH OUT WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO SAY BEFORE YOU SAY IT. One piece of advice people would tell me is to think about what to say before you say it. But I found it more useful to mouth out what I'm going to say quietly to myself before I speak instead of just thinking about it. This forces you to pause, gather your thoughts, and take your time. This gives you the confidence to articulate yourself and talk more smoothly. 2. Talk slower Taking slower and taking my time has helped me not only stutter less but also articulate my thoughts better. Now, it does take practice. You have to be aware of your speaking habits so that you can slow down whenever you're talking too fast. Before you say anything, remind yourself to take your time and slow down. Act as if you're a kindergarten teacher explaining something to a child. When speaking to children, we often talk slower so that they can understand us better. Also, I would like to piggyback off the first hack a bit. When you mouth out quietly to yourself what to say before you say it, mouth it out slowly and say it at the same pace that you mouthed it out to yourself. This will give you little opportunities to practice talking slower. 3. BITE YOUR TONGUE OR PUSH IT AGAINST YOUR TEETH this is a strange one, but it works wonders. I got this hack from a cashier at target. Whenever you feel yourself about to studder, bite down on your teeth, lightly, for a few seconds then start speaking. Works like a charm. There you go. Let me know what you guys think of these hacks and if they have helped you. I'll be posting more hacks in the future.
