It depends on the social context, in my experience. If I'm trying to make a point in a big classroom then it's gonna sound pretty disfluent, but if I'm making a joke at work and I say something controversial then it comes out easier. I think it's I have a change in tone talking to people I care about vs. people I don't, I don't know if that's helpful.
