Stuttering can go into remission. Some people who say that they’ve conquered stuttering have actually still got stuttering but it’s in remission. As the word “Remission” implies, the condition is static or gone but can return. In my experience these people often tell me that they only mildly stutter when they’re tired. Also, there are some PWS who had severe stuttering as youngsters but around puberty it gradually gets better into adulthood. I’m convinced in the understanding that stuttering is indeed a neurological dysfunction, can be genetic, and can be acquired after a brain injury including concussion and stroke.
