It annoys me as well. They seem to be saying "I got over it, so can you." I know for a fact that a couple people who said something similar to me were just lying. I don't think I'd say anything, or be visibly annoyed, but I wouldn't listen to them much. I have met a couple people who have very low-grade stammers who try to commiserate with me about ways to help myself. Such people are trying to help in good faith, but I still get agitated. I generally hate anything that makes me self-conscious, that's why I could never be friends with another stutterer. Talking on the phone and "s" words are my kryptonite as well. I usually just draw out the "s" as long as it takes to move on the next letter.
