Stutter and Brain Tumor in Toddler Hi, I'm wondering if anyone with experience with stutters can help me. I am pursuing medical assessment but it's taking time. My 2.5 year old recently started stuttering out of nowhere. It's gotten fairly severe, mostly repetitive sounds at the start of words, but it has got worse over the 2 weeks since we first heard it. I know stuttering itself is not all that unusual at that age. However, his older brother, my late son, developed an almost identical stutter 6 or so months before he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, age 3. We were never able to confirm if my late sons stutter was 'normal' developmental stuttering or if it was caused by the tumor. And now, whilst I know I'm hyper sensitive about my 2.5 year old, I'm extremely worried his stutter is being caused by something sinister. So my question I guess. Are there any differences to look for between a developmental stutter v's a stutter caused by a tumor? I'm really just seeking some reassurance but also have arranged for him to see a peadiatric neurologist who has agreed to arrange an MRI to rule anything out. Anxiety is through the roof.
