How long does it take to feel like therapy is helping? I have been stuttering since I learned how to speak. Keeping this post short and simple, I have recently begun therapy and its been a decade since I have received therapy. I find it hard to think about my stutter in a positive light after a decade of denial and "bottled up" anger/frustration. It's frustrating to think about my stutter, while not seeing any progress with my therapy. I realized that I developed habits of trying to switch out words mid sentence and avoid certain social situations. I have tried techniques with the therapist to think differently about my stutter, but it is hard to change how I think about my stutter. How long has it taken to feel progress towards fluency? Has anyone else taken long breaks from therapy then tried again?
