Anyone else feel social awkward purely due to their stutter? As PWS we often: 1. Get stuck on a word and must repeat ourselves multiple times, which doesn’t look good, extremely for telling jokes and in group situations 2. Often find ourselves substituting words to avoid a word we think we will block on, only to realise that the final sentence we created doesn’t make sense 3. Have more anxiety than people who are fluent, as anxiety is uncertainty and stuttering by its very nature is INCREDIBLY uncertain. 1 day you hate yourself for it, the next you think that you might have finally overcome it. This incredible variation in our own fluency, which causes us to doubt our ability to fit in/make friends, meaning that it’s no surprise that PWS have such rates of social anxiety
