God this makes me want to cry, not from the compassion from the lady, but from the fact that the guy felt that he had to do this, so he would feel normal and appreciated. Jesus it’s sad. I have a stutter but it’s mild to medium and I can only say I’m very lucky, but I’ve never felt the way he did.
