- I usually take it before bed, and I find that if I have a caffeinated drink like 4-5 hours before sleep I’ll be tossing and turning all night. This has something to do with the way caffeine and magnesium interact with each other it can affect sleep. Other than that, nothing. However magnesium citrate might cause nausea or diarrhea in some people, which is why I say try glycinate as well if citrate gives you a negative effect. - I might take it forever not for it’s help with stuttering but because it gives me the best sleep I’ve ever had, consistently every night. It also improves my energy levels in the gym which is great. There’s never a need to cycle off of it as far as I’m aware since it’s a naturally occurring substance. Also I’m taking a relatively low dose everyday, 400mg+ is when it starts to get considered high. - The way I understand it, there isn’t a need to cycle magnesium since it’s an essential mineral, as long as you aren’t taking a high dose everyday. The only reason you’d have to cycle off of it is if you’re taking it in liquid form for constipation. Most articles I find online state that taking a mag supplement daily for years is harmless, provided that your levels are in the normal range.
